Why Use A Calendar?
This might sound like a silly question, but I actually think it is the most important question that you can answer for yourself before buying a calendar. And that question is - “Why do you need a calendar?” or “Why this particular one?”
We are told we need SOMETHING to help us organize our time, but there are endless options as to how to keep it all together: enter, the calendar. With all kinds of calendars out there, answering this question can be a kind nudge in the right direction when choosing what works best for you.
There are many answers to this question. And my WHY is what brought me to creating The Story Calendar. I wanted a calendar that let me see my life on pen and paper. I wanted to see how my family was spending their time, day by day, week by week, month by month, and begin to use this calendar as an aid for reflection — reflecting on how we were living in the past to help guide us to better living in the future. I wanted to capture snapshots of our year that anyone in the family could glance at and get an understanding of the flow for the week. I wanted something that could serve as an anchor or check point as it relates to our family values. If I could hold up a calendar and our family values side by side, I could see how our time spent is upholding those values or not.
Maybe this is not the calendar for you. But if it seems like it is a calendar that helps answer your WHY, I am so glad you are here! Search for those tools that are going to serve you, and not the other way around. Forcing your life in to a calendar that feels hard to work with will only hinder where you’re trying to go. If you find yourself connecting with The Story Calendar, we hope you’ll stick around and see how it can help you see the life you’re living to live the life you desire.
